Whole Home Exterior Revitalization in Boone

Iowa Home Consulting completed a significant exterior renovation project in Boone, focusing on refreshing the home's aesthetic and improving its functionality. This remodel involved extensive exterior painting, replacement of the front entry and storm doors, and upgrades to all exterior door hardware.

The starting point

The home's exterior showed signs of wear, including chalking and oxidation on the steel siding, which required specialized preparation before painting. The existing front entry door and storm door were also ready for an upgrade, and various exterior door hardware needed replacement or updating for improved security and appearance. Additionally, a garage window had some rot that needed attention, and the storm door was not functioning properly.

What we did

Our team began with a meticulous preparation of the entire house and garage exterior. This involved power washing and specialized cleaning to ensure the steel siding was free of chalking and oxidation, which is crucial for proper paint adhesion. We then applied a fresh, two-tone paint scheme: 'White Duck' for the steel siding and 'Alabaster' for the trim and scalloped details. The new front entry door was painted 'Evergreen Fog' to provide a striking accent.

We replaced the existing 32-inch front entry door with a new left-hand swing fiberglass pre-hung unit. This new door featured a half-light rain/blurry glass insert and included a new frame, trim, threshold, and the installation of a mail slot. A new 32-inch black Larson full-view storm door with a retractable screen was installed. We also replaced the hardware on the side entry door and the garage entry door, ensuring all new hardware was a matching black finish. Minor carpentry work was completed for the garage window stop trim.
