The starting point

The property had a 6-foot tall wood fence, totaling approximately 71 linear feet, which had sustained extensive storm damage. Many posts were snapped or badly bent, compromising the fence's integrity. Additionally, a separate composite gate, not part of the storm damage, had developed operational problems over the winter, twisting and preventing proper opening and closing. The homeowner had already acquired some materials for a new composite fence system and sought a contractor to manage the demolition, installation, and gate repair.

What we did

Our team began by completely demolishing and removing the storm-damaged 71 linear feet of old wood fence. This included carefully extracting old fence posts, some of which required a farm jack for removal, and breaking up existing concrete as needed. All debris was hauled away for proper disposal.

Following demolition, we prepared the fence line for the new installation. We relocated the front fence line inward by a couple of feet to avoid old post footings, ensuring a solid foundation. We then installed a new 6-foot tall "Wood Plank" composite fence system. The installation involved setting new posts, precisely cutting and resizing the composite material for standard panel sections of 73.5 inches, and hanging the new gate. Simultaneously, we addressed the existing composite gate, re-leveling it and inspecting its internal mechanism and hardware. We repaired the twisting issues that prevented correct operation, ensuring smooth functionality.

The client provided all the composite fence materials, including posts, slats, hinges, and gate components. Our role focused on the skilled labor required for demolition and precise installation. Careful planning was crucial, especially when setting posts, as some areas required wider digging due to existing conditions. Coordinating the installation of a client-supplied system meant adapting our work to the specific product's dimensions, like the 73.5-inch standard panel sections, and ensuring all gate hardware was correctly integrated.
